[HMD & APP!]
This is my first time playing this version of Superboy! I am a little nervous but pretty excited to be bringing him to TDS. I have a feeling I'm going to be slow while I get used to him, but any advice you can give me would be super-appreciated! I'm not enabling anon-crit because in the past I have reacted extremely defensively to anon comments, and honestly having an idea of the context of the crit helps me a lot. If this makes you uncomfortable, maybe a mod wouldn't mind passing on the crit for you?
Thanks for respecting my preferences!

☓ Canon point: Season 1, end of episode 12.
☓ Age: Physically and mentally 16, chronologically 6 months 1 day.
☓ Previous TDS memories? nope!
☓ Personality:
Superboy’s first contact with non-CADMUS personnel was when his fist connected with Aqualad’s face. This kid has some issues, the chief of which being that for the first four months of his life he was treated as a weapon, referred to as Project KR, the Superboy, a geno-morph clone developed to replace Superman if he died, destroy him should he fall from the light. Telepathically controlled to keep him obedient, when three young sidekicks broke into CADMUS labs to investigate a fire, Superboy jumped at the chance of freedom and has fiercely protected his ever since.
Somewhat emotionally constipated as a result of this upbringing, Superboy has a fondness for sleeping upright in closets, obsessing over the real Superman and dwelling on Superman’s death (preferably at Superboy’s own hands). But it’s not all fun and games! He is socially awkward but being brought out of his shell by his team-mates, in particular M’gann, who empathizing with his feeling of being different, has helped Superboy learn more about who he is. Although not yet comfortable enough with his and M’gann’s burgeoning romantic relationship to tell the rest of his team-mates about it, Superboy is growing more comfortable expressing physical affection.
In his first meeting with his future team-mates, Aqualad cut through CADMUS’s telepathic control by asking Superboy ‘What would Superman do?’ That question remains at the heart of everything Superboy does as he creates an identity for himself. Quiet when he doesn’t have anything to say, Superboy nonetheless is capable of expressing himself very clearly on certain subjects, possibly because his opinions are the only things he has that are really his. Subsequently, he hates monkeys and refuses to wear a costume.
However, all CADMUS’s programming doesn’t seem to have prevented him from acquiring a latent sense of humour, Superboy answering Kid Flash’s question ‘Are you here to help us or fry us?’ with the observation that since he didn’t seem to have heat vision, his only option was helping. He was quick to support his new friends in their challenge of the Justice League’s treatment of them, supporting their bid to be treated as real heroes, even if he has a tendency to go off script in missions. This is usually due to anger or over-confidence, Superboy openly admitting that he has no faith in his ability to lead the team.
Quick to anger and stubborn, Superboy can, however, take a hint and learn from his mistakes. It only took being thrown across the room by Black Canary twice and nearly botching a mission for him to realize that not every problem can be solved with super strength, after all. Confident to the point of arrogance, Superboy challenged Batman’s authority immediately after being freed from CADMUS and initially ignored advice from his teammates. However under the front of his belief in himself is considerable insecurity, unwilling to admit to feelings of guilt or even to being upset when being counseled after a traumatic mission experience. However, Superboy seems to be rapidly developing in worldly know how outside of CADMUS, being considered worthy to take part in an under-cover operation in the Belle-Revue prison facility, impersonating a young villain Tommy Terror with such success that Superboy was able to befriend and manipulate Icicle Junior. Superboy also seems to possess a soft spot for strays, adopting a sentient robotic sphere and a wolf mutated by Kobra venom.
☓ Abilities: Superboy possesses invulnerability, enhanced strength, the ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound (I wish I was making that up), infra-red vision and heightened hearing. He has a fairly complete world knowledge and has been demonstrated to have the ability to speak several foreign languages. He has also been studying hand-to-hand combat under Black Canary for two months. He has also demonstrated knowledge of and a fondness for repairing motorcycles.
☓ Weaknesses:
Although educated telepathically in real world knowledge, Superboy lacks the experience to go with it. In particular, he struggles in social interactions, reacting angrily to being told what to do, over-reacting when M’gann first communicates telepathically with the team, becoming extremely awkward when flirted with and often losing control of his temper.
Having been created with the intention of one day replacing Superman, Superboy is always conscious of the fact that he is measured against him. His abilities are considerably inferior to Superman’s, and he lacks some of them, such as the ability to fly. Although craving Superman’s recognition and approval, Superboy has yet to see any sign of acceptance from him, leaving him angry (again) as well as rather single-mindedly focused on his original. This single-mindedness has led to Superboy missing opportunities, such as rejecting Black Canary’s training advice because he wanted Superman to train him. He is also stubborn, impulsive and did I mention angry?
Also as a Krytonian close, he has two very specific weaknesses. Krytonite is not as debilitating to Superboy as it is to Superman thanks to Superboy’s part human lineage, but it still is enough to disable him. He also draws power for his Krytonian abilities by absorbing sunlight. Without his solar suit (not on him at the moment he was drawn into the devils see), Superboy is entirely without his abilities when underground for an extended period of time.
☓ Strengths:
Although often angry, Superboy is quick to regret his actions and sincere, if awkward, in apologizing. He is an extremely confident fighter, and although relying on brute force and his invulnerability for most of his attacks, he is capable of coming up with and employing tactics in battle. He overcame his hostility towards telepathy and accepted M’gann’s use of her powers, and by the end of season one, was secure enough in himself to admit to his team-mates that he is Lex Luthor’s clone and had been using shields supplied by Luthor to suppress his human genes, allow his Kryptonian potential to be unchecked. He was also able to accept M’gann’s true White Martian form without hesitation.

I don’t know who you are or how you did this, but you have made a serious mistake. Or maybe you didn’t get the memo? [Angry newcomer railing at the network goes here. Dime a dozen, right?] Project KR was cancelled.
By me.
[Superboy pauses to take a breath, glancing around the empty house. He keeps thinking he’s hearing things. Whether he is or isn’t he’s not sure. Seems that just like the rest of his abilities, his enhanced hearing is playing up. Still, even if he couldn’t find anyone inside the house, the noises led him to the computer – and with it possibly the chance to get a few things straight.]
I am done with experiments. Got that? Done. I’m not your weapon. I’m not anyone’s weapon. Think by messing with my powers you can change that? Think again.
[He’s thought, for once. Finding yourself unexpectedly vulnerable will do that to a guy. Granted Superboy’s plan is pretty straightforward and it relies on his captor knowing enough about Superboy’s tendency to lose control of his temper to underestimate his ability to hold his own. But for them to have known enough about his abilities to counteract them and get into Mount Justice to separate him from his team-mates … they had to, right?
… where was Robin when you needed him. Superboy hesitated then decided to speak. If the team was out there, he needed to let them know he was still in possession of his memories.]
So not feeling the aster, guys.

The age of the wrecks was not encouraging, in particular, that of the military vessels. No government would want evidence of their methods, no matter how old, left out in the open for anyone to find. And if not the government, they were plenty of enthusiasts keen to get their hands on real paraphernalia. He knew that much from Captain Atom’s lectures and watching Robin at work. That was about all he knew.
Superboy stood some distance away, considering the ships as he wrung out his t-shirt. Although he’d been walking long enough for it to dry, it was stiff with salt, chaffing as he walked. Or was he just looking for items to vent his growing frustration on?
Superman wouldn’t have minded. Superman was invulnerable. Superboy clenched his fist, aggravating already torn skin. He had vented his initial anger at allowing an enemy to get the drop on him on a tree that had happened to be near enough to the shoreline to be an easy target. Except that the tree had been rather less easy than anticipated. Torn skin was a still a relatively new experience, but Superboy was rapidly coming to the conclusion that he didn’t like it.
Just like he didn’t like anything on this island.
He’d been walking an hour at least and there was no sign of the team, not a hint of their telepathic link or the slightest echo of their voices. It wouldn’t have taken Kid Flash more than a minute at most to find him, M’gann not far behind. Could it be that he was really alone … ?
Could it be that he was really … vulnerable?
